Green Job Attributes (2024)

This dataset comprises 19,814 experimental observations collected through a pre-registered discrete choice experiment administered to a nationally representative sample of 2,008 individuals aged 18–30 in Italy. Each respondent evaluated ten pairs of hypothetical job offers, randomly varying across wage levels and a set of job attributes, including six environmental (green) attributes and four standard working-condition amenities. The dataset integrates detailed sociodemographic information (e.g. gender, education, employment status, region of residence) and experimentally validated measures of behavioural traits, including risk tolerance, time preferences, competitiveness, and prosociality. The experimental design allows for the identification of individuals’ willingness to pay for specific job attributes by exploiting exogenous variation in wages and job characteristics.

Degree programmes skill-provision matrix (2001-2022)

This dataset comprises over 100,000 programme-level records covering Italian university degree programmes over the period 2001-2022, derived from the Annual Single Form for Study Programmes (SUA-CdS). The data were retrieved from the official Universitaly portal and matched with administrative records on first-year enrolments from the Ministry’s higher education database (USTAT), achieving coverage of over 95% of accredited programmes and enrolled students with respect to the period 2013-2022. The dataset integrates detailed textual descriptions of degree programmes—including learning objectives, professional profiles, course contents, and core modules—which are mapped to the ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) taxonomy comprising 13,939 skills. Using state-of-the-art natural language processing techniques, a high-dimensional skill provision matrix is constructed, measuring the semantic alignment between programme descriptions and labour-market skills. 

Italian University Publications (2000-2023)

This dataset comprises 1.9 million publication records involving at least one Italian university over the period 2000-2023, retrieved from OpenAlex. The data were matched against the official list of universities provided by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. The dataset integrates a wide range of publication bibliometric information, including author-affiliation data, citation counts, and concept classifications. In addition, publication records include classifications related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), derived using both a keyword-based and machine learning-based approach.

Italian University Patents (1985-2022)

This dataset comprises approximately 9,950 patent family records involving at least one Italian university over the period 1985-2022, retrieved from PATSTAT. The data were matched against the official list of universities provided by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. The dataset integrates a broad range of patent bibliometric information, including inventors, applicants, and technological classifications. In addition, patent records include classifications related to green technologies, identified using established approaches in the literature on green patents.
